Roofers
Ice dams
Heat leaking into the attic melts the snow on the roof, the water refreezes at the cold edge, and it backs up under the shingles. Clearing the ice stops the leak now. Insulating and sealing the attic, and venting it, keeps them from coming back.
If water is coming in, call a roofer who removes ice dams. Don't climb up or chip at the ice yourself.

Do this now
- Roof rake. From the ground, pull the first few feet of snow off the roof edge with a roof rake.
- No chipping. Hammers, axes and salt on the shingles can do more damage than the leak.
- Downspouts. Keep them clear so meltwater has somewhere to go.
