How CNY Pros works

Finding someone

Say what’s going on in the box on the home page, search for a company, a job or a town, or start from a trade. Each job page says what’s usually behind it, what to check first, and which companies do that work.

Tell us your town or ZIP once and every list puts the nearest companies first.

Reaching them

Every company with a phone number has a Call button, and each company’s page links its own website.

Sending a job through the site starts once our texting is set up. Until then, call them directly.

How companies get listed

We start from public map data and New York State business records, then read each company’s own website to see what it does. A company is listed only when we’re sure of its trade. Companies don’t sign up, fill anything out or pay.

What we check

Public records only: the state’s business filings, the state Labor Department’s contractor registry for workers’ comp, and city and county license lists where a place licenses that trade. A listing shows what we confirmed and the date we checked it.

Who comes first

Lists run A to Z, or nearest first once we know your town. Nobody can pay to be listed or to move up.

Your house

Your house keeps your furnace, water heater, roof and the rest in this browser. Only you can see it; no company ever does.
